Turmeric Produces 'Remarkable' Recovery in Alzheimer's Patients!

The freshest most delicious Extra Virgin (first pressing) Organic Olive Oil.

Have you heard about fake and GMO filler olive oils in the stores? Not this one, sourced directly from Spain. To use in food and on the skin, you want the real therapeutic olive oil.

Perfect for every food and cosmetic need. Exclusive sources allow us to make this claim that:

There is no Olive Oil that is fresher, or more delicious anywhere!

Olive oil is composed mainly of oleic acid and palmitic acid and other fatty acids, along with traces of squalene (up to 0.7%) and sterols (about 0.2% phytosterols and tocosterols). The composition varies by cultivar, region, altitude, time of harvest, and extraction process.

Olive oil contains a group of related natural products with potent antioxidant properties which give extra-virgin unprocessed olive oil its unique taste.

We use our olive oil for lots of purposes including low heat cooking, making our own salad dressings, on toast instead of butter, and of course on popcorn.

Our freshness is assured by rapid transit from Spain to our importer and then directly to Michigan, where we bottle and send it out to your door. No one does it faster or better! The difference is truly in the taste!

Olive oil and heart disease

Studies have shown that people who consumed about 2 tablespoons - of virgin olive oil daily for 1 week showed less oxidation of LDL cholesterol and higher levels of antioxidant compounds, particularly phenols, in the blood. This means your blood is going to be less clogged and sticky with undissolved fats.

But while all types of olive oil are sources of monounsaturated fat, EXTRA VIRGIN olive oil, from the first pressing of the olives, contains higher levels of antioxidants. Olive oil is clearly one of the good oils. I know it sounds funny to say, but it is a healthy and healing source of good fat! Most people do quite well with it since it does not upset the critical omega 6 to omega 3 ratio and most of the fatty acids in olive oil are actually an omega-9 oil which is monounsaturated.

Olive oil and colon cancer

Spanish researchers suggest that including olive oil in your diet may also offer benefits in terms of colon cancer prevention. Their study results showed that rats fed a diet supplemented with olive oil had a lower risk of colon cancer than those fed safflower oil-supplemented diets. In fact, the rats that received olive oil had colon cancer rates almost as low as those fed fish oil, which several studies have already linked to a reduction in colon cancer risk.

Health enhancing, flavorful, and anti-cancerous, could there be any more reason to use REAL Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil?

Turmeric Produces 'Remarkable' Recovery in Alzheimer's Patients
Turmeric has been used in India for over 5,000 years, which is likely why still today both rural and urban populations have some of the lowest prevalence rates of Alzheimer's disease (AD) in the world. A recent study on patients with AD found that less than a gram of turmeric daily, taken for three months, resulted in 'remarkable improvements.'

Alzheimer's Disease: A Disturbingly Common Modern Rite of Passage

A diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease (AD), sadly, has become a rite of passage in so-called developed countries.  AD is considered the most common form of dementia, which is defined as a serious loss of cognitive function in previously unimpaired persons, beyond what is expected from normal aging.
A 2006 study estimated that 26 million people throughout the world suffer from this condition, and that by 2050, the prevalence will quadruple, by which time 1 in 85 persons worldwide will be afflicted with the disease.
Given the global extent of the problem, interest in safe and effective preventive and therapeutic interventions within the conventional medical and alternative professions alike are growing.
Unfortunately, conventional drug-based approaches amount to declaring chemical war upon the problem, a mistake which we have documented elsewhere, and which can result in serious neurological harm, as evidenced by the fact that this drug class carries an alarmingly high risk for seizures, according to World Health Organization post-marketing surveillance statistics.
What the general public is therefore growing most responsive to is using time-tested, safe, natural and otherwise more effective therapies that rely on foods, spices and familiar culinary ingredients.

Remarkable Recoveries Reported after Administration of Turmeric

Late last year, a remarkable study was published in the journal Ayu titiled "Effects of turmeric on Alzheimer's disease with behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia."   Researchers described three patients with Alzheimer's disease whose behavioral symptoms were "improved remarkably" as a result of consuming 764 milligram of turmeric (curcumin 100 mg/day) for 12 weeks. According to the study:
"All three patients exhibited irritability, agitation, anxiety, and apathy, two patients suffer from urinary incontinence and wonderings. They were prescribed turmeric powder capsules and started recovering from these symptoms without any adverse reaction in the clinical symptom and laboratory data."
After only 3 months of treatment, both the patients' symptoms and the burden on their caregivers were significantly decreased.
The report describes the improvements thusly:
"In one case, the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) score was up five points, from 12/30 to 17/30. In the other two cases, no significant change was seen in the MMSE; however, they came to recognize their family within 1 year treatment. All cases have been taking turmeric for more than 1 year, re-exacerbation of BPSD was not seen."
This study illustrates just how powerful a simple natural intervention using a time-tested culinary herb can be.  Given that turmeric has been used medicinally and as a culinary ingredient for over 5,000 years in Indian culture, even attaining the status of a 'Golden Goddess,' we should not be surprised at this result. Indeed, epidemiological studies of Indian populations reveal that they have a remarkably lower prevalence of Alzheimer's disease relative to Western nations,  and this is true for both rural and more "Westernized" urban areas of India.
Could turmeric be a major reason for this?

Turmeric's Anti-Alzheimer's Properties.

The GreenMedInfo.com database now contains a broad range of published studies on the value of turmeric, and its primary polyphenol curcumin (which gives it its golden hue), for Alzheimer's disease prevention and treatment.*
While there are 114 studies on Turmeric research  indicating turmeric has a neuroprotective set of physiological actions,  30 of these studies are directly connected to turmeric's anti-Alzheimer's disease properties.**
Two of these studies are particularly promising, as they reveal that curcumin is capable of enhancing the clearance of the pathological amyloid–beta plaque in Alzheimer's disease patients, and that in combination with vitamin D3 the neurorestorative process is further enhanced. Additional preclinical research indicates curcumin (and its analogs) has inhibitory and protective effects against Alzheimer's disease associated β-amyloid proteins.

Other documented Anti-Alzheimer's mechanisms include:

  • Anti-inflammatory: Curcumin has been found to play a protective role against β-amyloid protein associated inflammation.
  • Anti-oxidative: Curcumin may reduce damage via antioxidant properties.
  • Anti-cytotoxic: Curcumin appears to protect against the cell-damaging effects of β-amyloid proteins.[13] [14]
  • Anti-amyloidogenic: Turmeric contains a variety of compounds (curcumin, tetrahydrocurcumin, demethoxycurcumin and bisdemethoxycurcumin) which may strike to the root pathological cause of Alzheimer's disease by preventing β-amyloid protein formation.
  • Neurorestorative: Curcuminoids appear to rescue long-term potentiation (an indication of functional memory) impaired by amyloid peptide, and may reverse physiological damage by restoring distorted neurites and disrupting existing plaques.
  • Metal-chelating properties: Curcumin has a higher binding affinity for iron and copper rather than zinc, which may contribute to its protective effect in Alzheimer's disease, as iron-mediated damage may play a pathological role.

Just The Tip of the Medicine Spice Cabinet

The modern kitchen pantry contains a broad range of anti-Alzheimer's disease items, which plenty of science now confirms. Our Alzheimer's research page contains research on 97 natural substances of interest. Top on the list, of course, is curcumin. Others include:
  • Coconut Oil: This remarkable substance contains approximately 66% medium chain triglycerides by weight, and is capable of improving symptoms of cognitive decline in those suffering from dementia by increasing brain-boosing ketone bodies, and perhaps more remarkably, within only one dose, and within only two hours.
  • Cocoa: A 2009 study found that cocoa procyanidins may protect against lipid peroxidation associated with neuronal cell death in a manner relevant to Alzheimer's disease.
  • Sage: A 2003 study found that sage extract has therapeutic value in patients with mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease.
  • Folic acid: While most of the positive research on this B vitamin has been performed on the semi-synthetic version, which may have unintended, adverse health effects,  the ideal source for this B vitamin is foliage, i.e. green leafy vegetables, as only foods provide folate. Also, the entire B group of vitamins, especially including the homocysteine-modulating B6 and B12, may have the most value in Alzheimer's disease prevention and treatment.
  • Resveratrol: this compound is mainly found in the Western diet in grapes, wine, peanuts and chocolate. There are 16 articles on our website indicating it has anti-Alzheimer's properties.
Other potent natural therapies include:
  • Gingko biloba: is one of the few herbs proven to be at least as effective as the pharmaceutical drug Aricept in treating and improving symptoms of Alzheimer's disease.
  • Melissa offinalis: this herb, also known as Lemon Balm, has been found to have therapeutic effect in patients with mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease.
  • Saffron: this herb compares favorably to the drug donepezil in the treatment of mild-to-moderate Alzheimer's disease.
As always, the important thing to remember is that it is our diet and environmental exposures that largely determine our risk of accelerated brain aging and associated dementia. Prevention is an infinitely better strategy, especially considering many of the therapeutic items mentioned above can be used in foods as spices.  Try incorporating small, high-quality culinary doses of spices like turmeric into your dietary pattern, remembering that 'adding it to taste,' in a way that is truly enjoyable, may be the ultimate standard for determining what a 'healthy dose' is for you. Mistletoe Extract Beats Chemotherapy Against Colon Cancer Cells!!

Mistletoe Extract Beats Chemotherapy Against Colon Cancer Cells
The tradition of kissing under the mistletoe at Christmas can be traced back to ancient Scandinavian rules of war. The story goes that if enemies found themselves standing beneath the mistletoe they had to lay down their arms for the rest of the day.
Peacemaking led to the Christmas kissing tradition.  It's said a young man may kiss a girl under the mistletoe, plucking a poison berry from the bush each time.  But when the berries are gone, no more kissing.
Aside from Christmas lore, mistletoe has a long history of medicinal applications among ancient cultures.  Some modern scientists are exploring its use as a treatment for colon cancer.
According to the University of Adelaide in Australia, a researcher there is experimenting with an extract of mistletoe.  The lab studies focus on whether mistletoe could complement chemotherapy or replace chemotherapy as a treatment for colon cancer.
Colon cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in the United States according to the Centers for Disease Control.
Zahra Lotfollahi, an honors research student at the University of Adelaide, compared the effectiveness of three different types of mistletoe extract and chemotherapy on colon cancer cells.
Lotfollahi found that one of the mistletoe extracts, from the species Fraxini (which grows on ash trees) was more potent against colon cancer cells in cell cultures compared with chemotherapy. It also increased the potency of chemotherapy when used in conjunction with it.
Fraxini was also found to be less harmful to healthy cells.
For many years, European doctors have considered mistletoe extracts a viable alternative treatment for various cancers. Mistletoe extract is already authorized for use by sufferers of colon cancer in Europe, but not in the United States.
One 2002 German study, published in the journal Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine, looked at the effects of Iscador, another extract of mistletoe, in over 10,000 patients. The researchers found that patients suffering with colon, rectal, stomach and breast cancer treated with the Iscador extract survived 40% longer than the control group.
Iscador is generally regarded as a complementary cancer therapy.  But the researchers noted it is the most commonly used oncological drug in Germany.
A subsequent study found that mistletoe extract may improve overall survival in ovarian cancer patients.
And a 2010 study found mistletoe may act synergistically with chemotherapy in the treatment of pancreatic cancer.
As a medicinal plant, mistletoe has been used traditionally as an antispasmodic for treating convulsive coughing and asthma attacks. It's also been used to treat epilepsy, hiccups, digestive and uterine cramps.
Actress Suzanne Somers drew attention to mistletoe's anti-cancer properties when she opted for Iscador treatments in place of chemotherapy during her treatment for breast cancer.  She wrote about it in her book, Knockout: Interviews With Doctors Who Are Curing Cancer.

Teeth Whitening Reviewed!

Professional At-Home Teeth Whitening

Best Teeth Whitening

Pros
  • Very effective
  • Dentist supervision
  • Custom molded tray
Cons
  • Tooth sensitivity

    Bottom line

Professional at-home teeth whitening is a Best Reviewed selection because it produces dramatic results in a relatively short amount of time. You can use the custom-fitted whitening trays in the convenience of your home at a time that works best for you. As with all teeth whiteners, sensitivity is a common issue, but your dentist can easily control it by prescribing a lower dose.

    Performance

In-office results in the convenience of your home. Experts agree that the best teeth whitening options are only available from a licensed dental practitioner. For those who don't want to fork out the big bucks for in-office, light-assisted bleaching treatments, your dentist can offer you a take-home kit for a fraction of the cost. Furthermore, Bruce Matis, director of clinical research at Indiana University School of Dentistry, says "the kits work as well as or better than in-office treatments."
Reviewers at TeethWhiteningReviews.com are pleased with dentist-supervised, take-home products. Most say they saw noticeable results right away and more dramatic whitening in about a week. One reviewer says, "My results are fantastic. I don't know how many shades I've lightened but the difference is dramatic. My teeth have gone from a dark ivory-yellow to matching the whites of my eyes." Several reviewers at this site said their teeth got up to eight shades lighter.

    Ease of use

Difficult to talk and say good-bye to your vices. Although professional take-home whitening treatments require more work than if you were to have an in-office treatment, most users say they are fairly easy to use. Some warn that it may take a bit of practice to get just the right amount of gel into the trays -- most users say only the smallest amount is needed -- but it only takes a time or two to get it just right. And you can easily wipe away any excess gel.
The only real inconvenience is that it is difficult to talk and you have to avoid eating and drinking while the trays are in your mouth. Many users opt to wear their trays overnight to avoid those inconveniences. Experts also say it's important to avoid any stain-causing foods and beverages during treatment and immediately after. That means no coffee, tea, colas or cigarettes for its entire course. If giving up your vices for one to two weeks at a time proves too difficult, you may be more satisfied with professional in-office teeth whitening (*Est. $500 to $800), which typically only requires one procedure.

    Safety

Custom-suited to your level of sensitivity. Experts say that professional teeth whitening is the safest form of bleach treatments available. That's because the process is supervised by your dentist who can make changes if any problems arise. Furthermore, your dentist can determine if you are a good candidate for teeth whitening based on your overall oral health.
Tooth sensitivity is an issue with all teeth whiteners. The advantage to professional at-home whitening is that your dentist can prescribe a lower dosage if sensitivity is an issue. Several users at TeethWhiteningReviews.com say that taking a day off in between treatments also helps. Overall though, most users say that sensitivity is not a huge issue with professional take-home treatments. That's because the mouth tray is custom fitted to your teeth which ensures that bleaching agents don't come in contact with your gums. Alleviating Anxiety With Zensight Process!

Similar in some ways to hypnosis - and yet no hypnosis is used - Zensight Process is a self-help energy work technique that emphasizes the use of visualization together with "healing statements" in order to rapidly yet gently heal concerns.

This article outlines the basic steps taken in healing even persistent and pervasive experiences of anxiety.        Rachel looks in the mirror and notices a mark on her cheek.  Immediately her breath becomes shallow, her heart races, her chest tightens, and she feels nauseated.  She checks the spot more closely, and sees that it’s just a speck of dirt.  She washes it off and tells herself firmly that she is fine – it wasn’t the beginning of skin cancer, it was nothing.  It’s gone.  She is okay.

Although she keeps telling herself she is okay, hours later, Rachel still doesn’t feel okay.  What if seeing that spot was a “sign”?  What is she is about to develop skin cancer?  What if she already has skin cancer and she just hasn’t seen it yet?  Should she go see her doctor?  Recurring thoughts of cancer hover in the back of her mind for the rest of the day.  Weeks later she notices she is still spending an increased amount of time inspecting her skin for unusual marks or blemishes.

Like an estimated 13-16.5% of adults, Rachel has an anxiety disorder.  Types of anxiety disorders include generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, agoraphobia, social phobia, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and post traumatic stress disorder.

At times the symptoms of anxiety can become so debilitating that those affected will not leave their home or attend social functions – and their lives may become consumed by the effort to avoid people, places or situations which are likely to trigger feelings of anxiety.

Traditional treatment for anxiety disorder has involved medication to help to lessen the symptoms of anxiety, and behavioral therapy to assist with coping and challenging irrational thoughts.  Treatment is generally expected to be long term.

Zensight Process offers new hope to those with anxiety.  In many cases, a practitioner who is very skilled with both Zensight and in working with those with anxiety, can help someone to experience dramatic improvement – and in some cases a complete elimination of symptoms – in just a few sessions.

In most situations, many individuals will be able to use Zensight on their own – without ever consulting a practitioner at all – to considerably improve and sometimes even eliminate their symptoms altogether.  Those who do choose to work with a therapist or practitioner to help support and accelerate their healing will also benefit from doing Zensight self-healing in between sessions, in order to obtain the best results.

How to Use Zensight Process

Zensight Process involves working with the subconscious mind in a way that is similar to hypnosis – and yet no hypnosis is actually used.  Instead, we begin by creating a “healing symbol”.  This symbol can be a word, picture, or colour.  Some people choose to use a symbol such as “ocean”.  They then can focus on the word “ocean” when that feels right, and at other times may actually visualize the ocean.

When this healing symbol is used or focused upon with intent, it allows the fears, concerns, and “blocks” that someone is experiencing to gently heal and transform.

The healing symbol is then used together with healing statements and visualization, to soften, dissolve and release the concerns that are being experienced.

In a situation of anxiety, the individual is instructed to stop and notice any visual image that comes to mind when she or he thinks about one of their specific concerns – and then focus upon this image while connecting with the healing symbol that was chosen.

This use of visualization helps to greatly accelerate healing because it does not rely upon the limits of our conscious mind and awareness.  The visual image that comes up may be an actual representation of a specific fear or issue that is being experienced, or it may be something that is metaphorical in nature.  I have had people tell me that they suddenly see a picture of themselves with their leg caught in a trap, or that they see a large grey object that they can’t identify or make sense of.  The different images that come up are highly variable and are not always understood by the person.  The beauty of it is that they don’t need to be understood.  The image is simply focused upon while connecting with the healing symbol, and is allowed to transform.

What generally happens is that the image spontaneously transforms in a way that feels healing.  The individual watches as the trap that was holding the leg simply dissolves and disappears.  They see themselves then being able to move about freely and with a sense of contentment and peace.  The big unexplained grey object morphs into a big egg which opens up and releases light and a feeling of peace that the person senses themselves absorbing as she or he watches.

If the picture doesn’t change, if no picture is seen, or in order to resolve any remaining upset, the individual uses healing statements.  After each statement, the person takes a deep breath and lets it go, and focuses upon the healing symbol.  Upsets are then healed and transformed, as positive feelings grow and strengthen.

Examples of healing statements are:

I heal all of the fears that any parts of me have, that I can’t get free of this problem

I heal any and all feelings that any parts of me have, that I am trapped.

I let all of the parts of me know, deeply and completely, that I am safe.

All of the different parts of me now experience a growing sense of peace and comfort.

My entire body is relaxing now.

Sound simple?  It is – extremely simple, and yet powerfully and deeply effective.  Best of all, the effects are lasting - providing that energetic imbalances are addressed and healed, results will in most cases be permanent.

Energy Balancing

Zensight can be used for much more than simply targeting specific symptoms.  In the case of anxiety – especially experiences of pervasive fear and anxiety – it is best to begin by targeting energetic imbalances that are most likely being experienced.

Someone who experiences frequent and/or pervasive feelings of fear has an imbalance in his or her triple warmer meridian.  The energy meridians have been widely recognized in Eastern medicine as impacting upon our emotional, physical, and mental concerns.  Acupuncture is only one of many modalities which focus upon bringing healing to the energy meridians.

The triple warmer meridian is the meridian in the body which governs the fight/flight/freeze response.  Sometimes – often in response to an original event or series of events in which the individual felt intense fear or terror – the triple warmer meridian becomes overenergized.  In the case of anxiety, the emphasis will be upon the “flight/freeze” response, and the individual will quickly respond with fear to many situations which may to others appear innocuous.

Trying to talk someone out of their fear often has little effect.  Rachel rationally knows that the mark on her face was simply dirt and was no more an indicator of cancer than is a stain on her jeans.  However, in spite of this awareness, and in spite of her logical mind which tells her she is safe and is overreacting, Rachel can not let the fear go.

The problem that Rachel is experiencing is not in her mind so much as in her body and in her energy system.  Often patterns of triple warmer overenergization begin in childhood, in response to repeated experiences of terror.  Sometimes this may be due to experiences of abuse that were either experienced or witnessed, and sometimes it may be connected with less obviously traumatic experiences that were nevertheless fear-producing for the particular child involved.

Rachel knows that she is safe – but her body and energy system need to know it too.  In a sense, they need to be reprogrammed.  With Zensight, this “reprogramming” can occur gently and easily during a rapid yet extremely relaxing process.

Other energetic imbalances may also be involved.  Homolateral energy (where the energy runs straight up and down the body rather than crossing over it) may also be involved.  Once any energetic imbalances that are involved are addressed, many symptoms of anxiety will lessen immediately.  The work then becomes focused on targeting the concerns more directly.

Bringing Healing to the “Whole” Person

The emphasis which Zensight Process places upon using both visualization and verbal “healing statements” ensures that both hemispheres of the brain are involved during the healing process.  This assists people in linking logic with emotion.  After using Zensight, not only does Rachel logically understand that the spot on her face was not a sign of impending doom – she emotionally “gets it” as well.

Zensight also addresses the experience of parts of self.  All of us have parts of self.  In many situations where healing is not experienced even when highly effective modalities are being used, the issue is that the person on some level – in some small part of them – may believe that it’s not safe to heal the concerns.  Rachel may be afraid to completely heal her anxiety because some small part of her may fear that if she stops worrying about and expecting to develop cancer, that she will pay less attention and will miss warning signs and thus be unsafe.  Zensight allows the individual to access and bring healing to – through the use of visualization and targeted healing statements – to even those parts of us that are afraid to heal, or believe it is not in our best interests to do so.

By ensuring that the individual is treated at as a whole – physically, emotionally, mentally, and energetically – Zensight enables even concerns that are usually considered to be difficult to impossible to resolve, to be as gently and quickly healed as possible. First Response Early Result Reviewed!

First Response Early Result

Best Home Pregnancy Test

Pros
  • Excellent sensitivity
  • Consistent
  • Sensitive to low concentrations of hCG
Cons
  • Increased risk of false negatives
  • Results may be difficult to interpret

    Bottom Line

The First Response Early Result Pregnancy Test is the one to use if you can't wait until your period's supposed to start to find out if you're pregnant: It's 58 percent accurate a full four days before a missed period. Even if you're not in a hurry, this is still one of the most accurate tests on the market.

    Accuracy

Highly accurate when used as directed. The First Response Early Result Pregnancy Test claims to be 68 percent accurate six days before a missed period, but scientific evidence disputes that. An independent test measuring the accuracy of claims of six home pregnancy tests shows the First Response Early Result to be only 25 percent accurate at six days before an expected period. That rises to 58 percent accuracy at four days before and 100 percent accuracy the day after a missed period.
Users rank this test highly for accuracy, with many saying it gave them accurate positive results even earlier than six days before their expected period start date. Like all pregnancy tests, First Response Early Result assumes an approximate 28-day cycle. Women with longer cycles may take longer to build up enough human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) for positive testing, which can lead to a fairly high rate of false negatives. Because this test can be used so early, it will detect hCG from a very early miscarriage, meaning the test is correct but the pregnancy wasn't viable.
The test's control line is said to be consistent and unmistakable, but there are occasional complaints of a completely blank results window.

    Sensitivity

Most accurate test available. First Response says the Early Result Pregnancy Test can detect hCG levels of as low as 25 mIU/ml. However, independent studies show it can detect levels as low as 2.1 mIU/ml in a small percentage of cases, and many women report getting a positive at 5.5 mlU/ml.

    Ease Of Use

Early positives may be faint. The instructions on the First Response Early Result Pregnancy Test are easy to read and understand, users say. You can urinate directly on the absorbent tip, or collect urine and dip the absorbent tip for five seconds. Doing so first thing in the morning is recommended, especially in early cycle testing. The test should be read at thee minutes and immediately discarded. A single pink line means negative, a second pink line means positive. There's no evaporation line, but any results that appear after the three-minute mark aren't considered reliable because the positive results line can take on a faint color after 10 minutes.
Users' primary confusion with First Response Early Result comes in the form of a faint positive line when testing very early in pregnancy, leading some to question whether they see it. Experts say even a very faint line is a positive if it's read at the proper time. Since the rate of accuracy is estimated at close to 100 percent the first day of a missed period, urine should be retested then. Also for Direct Access To Brand Name Products&Services Like This Visit our Partners At   http://ebuys-onlineproducts-services.weebly.com

How Safe Is our Food in the United States?

The next time you tuck into a nice T-bone, reflect that it probably came from a cow that spent much of its life standing in manure reaching above its ankles. That's true even if you're eating the beef at a pricey steakhouse. Most of the beef in America comes from four suppliers.
The next time you admire a plump chicken breast, consider how it got that way. The egg-to-death life of a chicken is now six weeks. They're grown in cages too small for them to move, in perpetual darkness to make them sleep more and quarrel less. They're fattened so fast they can't stand up or walk. Their entire lives, they are trapped in the dark, worrying.
All of this is overseen by a handful of giant corporations that control the growth, processing and sale of food in this country. Take Monsanto, for example. It has a patent on a custom gene for soybeans. Its customers are forbidden to save their own soybean seed for use the following year. They have to buy new seed from Monsanto. If you grow soybeans outside their jurisdiction but some of the altered genes sneak into your crop from your neighbor's fields, Monsanto will investigate you for patent infringement. They know who the outsiders are and send out inspectors to snoop in their fields.
Food labels depict an idyllic pastoral image of American farming. The sun rises and sets behind reassuring red barns and white frame farmhouses, and contented cows graze under the watch of the Marlboro Cowboy. This is a fantasy. The family farm is largely a thing of the past. When farmland comes on the market, corporations outbid local buyers. Your best hope of finding real food grown by real farmers is at a local farmers' market. It's not entirely a matter of "organic" produce, although usually it is. It's a matter of food grown nearby, within the last week.
Remember how years ago you didn't hear much about E. coli? Now it seems to be in the news once a month. People are even getting E. coli poisoning from spinach and lettuce, for heaven's sake.
Why are Americans getting fatter? A lot of it has to do with corn syrup, which is the predominant sweetener. When New Coke failed and Coke Classic returned, it wasn't to the classic recipe; Coke replaced sugar with corn sweeteners.
Cattle have been trained to eat corn instead of grass, their natural food. The Marlboro Cowboys should be riding through cornfields. Corn, in fact, is an ingredient in 80 percent of supermarket products, including batteries and Splenda. Processing concentrates it. You couldn't eat enough corn kernels in a day to equal the number of calories in a bag of corn chips. Corn syrup can be addictive. And then there's fat and salt. A fast-food meal is a heart attack in a paper bag. Poor families can't afford to buy real food to compete with the cost of $1 burgers and $1.98 "meals."
If this offends you, try to do something about it. The Texas beef growers sued Oprah. She won in court because she had the money to fight teams of corporate lawyers. You don't.
Consider Carole Morrison, who refused to seal her chicken houses off from the daylight, and opened them to the makers of this documentary. Morrison's chickens are not jammed into cages, but we see chickens that are unable to stand up. A giant chicken processor canceled her contract and refused to do any more business with her. She was getting sick of how she treated chickens, anyway.
Good food is not a cause limited to actresses on talk shows. Average people are getting concerned. Amazingly, Wal-Mart signed up with the eco-conscious Stonyfield Farms, due to consumer demand. When you hear commentators complaining about how the "government is paying farmers to not grow food," understand that "farmers" are corporations, and that the government is buying their surpluses to undercut local farmers around the world. The farmers who grew Bermuda onions are just about out of business because of the dumping of American onions. "Socialized agriculture" benefits megacorporations, which are committed to the goals of most corporations: maximize profits and executive salaries.
This review doesn't read one thing like a movie review. But most of the stuff I discuss in it, I learned from the new documentary "Food, Inc.," directed by Robert Kenner and based on the recent book An Omnivore's Dilemma by Michael Pollan. I figured it wasn't important for me to go into detail about the photography and the editing. I just wanted to scare the bejesus out of you, which is what "Food, Inc." did to me.
It's times like these I'm halfway grateful that after surgery I can't eat regular food anymore and have to live on a liquid diet out of a can. Of course, it contains soy and corn products, too, but in a healthy form. They say your total cholesterol level shouldn't exceed your age plus 100. Mine is way lower than that. And I don't have to tip.

7 Reasons You Want A Holistic Dentist To Take Care of Your Teeth!

The reasons why holistic dental care can benefit you and your family range from the advantages of advanced holistic techniques have in cosmetic dentistry and the careful removal of metal fillings to dental materials testing and environmental issues.

Read the whole article for all the positive effects your holistic dentist can have on your dental health and overall well being.

Use of Bio-Compatible Dental Materials:  Let's face it, we live in a toxic world; so you don't want to add to your toxic load or create more stress for your immune system through your dentistry. Studies indicate that at some point at least twenty per cent of dental patients develop sensitivity to dental material. Your holistic dentist will have different forms of testing available to ascertain which materials are suitable for you.

Non-Painful and Natural Treatment of Gum Diseases:  In dentistry, the only condition that can strictly speaking be called a disease is periodontal (gum) disease.  The media has drawn a lot of attention recently to research showing that bacteria causing gum disease is not only found in the mouth.  The same bacteria can be found in the blood stream when a patient has gum disease and may also be present in instances of heart disease. The mouth is the gateway to the body and a sound oral environment is a necessary support for a strong heart in a healthy body. Your gums are the foundation for any dental treatment.  A holistic dentist will always try to implement a balanced and progressive program for preserving your gums before recommending a more aggressive approach to your periodontal care.

Safe Removal of Metal Fillings:  It is vital that a strict protocol be followed whenever metal fillings need to be replaced. This includes tooth isolation so that no metal particles find themselves in your mouth or, worse yet, are swallowed. Clean air and oxygen should be provided for you to breathe, along with any special filtration and a custom high speed vacuum unit.

Ideally your holistic dentist will also have a filter that will prevent the metal that has been removed from getting into the public water system.  In our oceans, fourteen per cent of the pollution is caused by dental metals.  Bay Area dentists are actually required to implement this type of filtration to protect the waters of San Francisco Bay.

Prevention and Effective Treatment of Bite Problems and TMJ Problems:  Your holistic dentist knows that your mouth is the gateway to your body, not just internally but structurally as well.  The patient's bite alignment must always be factored into the total picture of dental treatment, along with specific concerns like problems with the jaw joint (TMJ).  Bite assessment is important for treatment, not just for the  head and jaw but for the structure of the body as a whole.

Measures to take for bite correction include use of splints designed with state of the art materials, as well as muscular adjustments within the mouth. Sometimes your holistic dentist may coordinate treatment directly with a chiropractor in order to give you the most positive results.

Your bite must be at its best for the successful outcome to your dental treatment: a relaxed and beautiful smile.

Adjunctive Support:  Traditionally, dentists have always stressed the importance of regular brushing and flossing, particularly after eating sweets, for the maintenance of dental health.  Your holistic dentist may put even more emphasis on the importance of good dietary habits.

For example, an alkaline, sugar-free diet is an important adjunct to preventive oral health. It is well known that sugar contributes to tooth decay. This is because the bacteria that cause decay easily feed and grow on intake of sugar. An alkaline diet is also helpful in that the stresses of our world tend to cause acidity of the saliva, which affects the health of both teeth and gums. An alkaline diet keeps the ph of saliva at the proper balance so that the digestive processes beginning with the mouth will function optimally. Following some simple dietary guidelines can minimize and actually eliminate sugar cravings.

Your holistic dentist may also use aids like homeopathics, which are a powerful support to oral health and dental treatment.  Homeopathic pellets of Aconitum Napellus can be administered to calm anxiety before treatment.   Homeopathic gels can be used topically after procedures to dissipate the effects of anesthetics.  Others, such as Arnica and Traumeel, can be applied topically to sore gum tissue.

Cosmetic Bonding for Preservation of Tooth Structure:  Metal fillings that are 15-20 years old can create cracks in your teeth that eventually grow to become fractures. It is not uncommon to have old fillings stay intact while the tooth structure crumbles around it. In addition to metal fillings weakening tooth structure, they stain the underlying tooth black. It is best to remove old fillings before the tooth breaks, risking root canals or crowns and caps.

Through bonding techniques caps or crowns are sometimes unnecessary, since bonding helps to hold the tooth together rather than wedge it apart. This strengthening through bonding allows us to be more conservative and remove less tooth structure. There are many durable tooth-colored filling materials available today that support the tooth and look natural and beautiful.

Products and Education for Eliminating Toxicity from Your Dental Treatment, Dental Products, Your Home and Your Environment:  Today limiting the damage caused by toxicity is a hidden determinant to good health. Limiting toxicity may present as big a challenge as getting proper nutrition. Your body has the wisdom to convert whatever you feed it into nutrients it can use, but over time  the immune system and organs of the body may respond to cumulative toxicity by breaking down.

It is important for patients to know about the ingredients to avoid in toothpaste and mouthwash. There is more and more availability of organic, effective, good-tasting alternatives for home dental care. Your holistic dentist can educate you in the many ways that toxic ingredients can be found in personal care and cleaning products and even food and medicine.

Learning which ingredients are best avoided and taking the time to read labels are two ways that we can empower ourselves and our families to strive for good oral health and overall well being.  Educating and influencing patients to have a more balanced lifestyle is another of the reasons why your holistic dentist provides important service to your community. Hair Loss Treatments: Reviewed

Mens Rogaine Extra Strength Hair Regrowth Treatment (5% minoxidil)

Mens Rogaine Extra Strength Hair Regrowth Treatment!

Best topical treatment for hair loss

Pros
  • Minimal side effects
  • Available without prescription
  • Affordable
  • Slows the progression of hair loss for approximately 90 percent of users
Cons
  • Must be applied twice daily
  • Ongoing regimen
  • Messy application
  • Not effective for everyone
Several Rogaine users posting at Drugstore.com complain of scalp irritation but some say that switching to the original strength or another brand alleviates that problem. A few users complain of the odor associated with Rogaine while others claim that the smell disappears when the product dries. Experts say that some women may have unwanted hair growth, namely on the face, as a result of minoxidil usage, though it is a rare side effect and may be more likely to occur in women with a history of excess facial and body hair.
The best minoxidil research comes from medical journals, such as the American Journal of Clinical Dermatology and the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, where clinical trials and studies of minoxidil (the active ingredient in Rogaine) are reported. Paula Begoun uses scientific studies and research as the basis of her opinions of Rogaine and other hair-loss products in her book "Don't Go Shopping for Hair-Care Products Without Me." The American Hair Loss Association provides an in-depth look at minoxidil -- and balding in general -- on its website. User reviews are minimal but seem to confirm experts' opinions of efficacy.
Reviewers say that Men's Rogaine Extra Strength Hair Regrowth Treatment is an excellent starting place for both men and women experiencing genetic hair loss (known as androgenetic alopecia, or AGA), but reviews suggest that generic versions of 5 percent minoxidil (the active ingredient in Rogaine) may be just as effective. Experts say that Rogaine at least slows the progression of hair loss for most that use it, and minoxidil completely stops the progression for some and actually regrows hair for others. Experts add that the best results usually occur when users begin the regimen at the first sign of hair loss. Studies show that Rogaine is not as effective as doctor-prescribed Propecia. Rogaine doesn't require a prescription and is safe for women, although only the original strength (2 percent minoxidil) has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration for use by women. Experts suggest that men use both treatments for the best results. 4 Ways the Food and Drug Administration Is Not ‘Protecting and Promoting Your Health!!

A few weeks ago I happened to catch an episode of the radio show This American Life, which focused on the how the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) dealt with problems related to acetaminophen, also know as Tylenol.
In a nutshell, it took the FDA over 30 years to let us know that taking too much of this medication can cause severe liver disease and death. Historically, Tylenol was thought to be the safe pain reliever and one that we should “trust.” Truth be told, taking just two extra strength Tylenol tablets over the maximum daily dose of eight can cause liver failure.
Why did it take the FDA so long to inform the public of the health risks associated with Tylenol? According to a review of the FDA process, a lack of financial resources and a heavy workload caused the delay.
Ironically, days before I listened to this episode, I was thinking about a few other perplexing FDA positions. While their tagline is “protecting and promoting your health,” there are many instances where their actions are anything but. Here are four such examples.
1. Food Additives
A recent study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association Internal Medicine (JAMA Intern Med) found that between 1997 and 2012 all of the members on panels to determine if a food additive was safe had ties to the industry that created them, either as an employee or consultant. One has to wonder, with such an infiltration of industry in the decision-making process, if these additives are truly safe to consume.
Additionally, the FDA allowed companies that created food products to determine whether or not a food additive was generally recognized as safe, also known as GRAS. In some cases, these companies did not even notify the FDA of this determination!
Food politics guru Marion Nestle, Ph.D., wrote the commentary for the article. Not one to mince words, she says: “How is it possible that the FDA permits manufacturers to decide for themselves whether their food additives are safe?”
How indeed.
She also says:
… financial ties with food and beverage companies are now recognized as influences on federal dietary guidelines, opinions of nutrition professionals, and the interpretation of nutrition studies.
The article concludes with the authors urging the FDA to address the lack of independent review and the ubiquitous financial conflicts of interest in GRAS determinations. Let’s hope the FDA follows this advice.
2. Fecal Implants
Fecal implants, also known as fecal microbiota therapy (FMT), are a procedure whereby stool from a healthy donor is inserted into the colon of another. Yes, fecal implants sound really gross. But they save lives and are actually more effective for curing difficult cases of Clostridium difficile (C. diff) — which can cause diarrhea, cramping, colitis, and death — than really expensive antibiotic pills. They have also been found to be helpful, or in some cases cure, other gastrointestinal conditions, such as ulcerative colitis, a debilitating condition that causes inflammation of the colon and bloody, frequent diarrhea.
However, in April 2013 the FDA decided if feces were preventing, treating, or curing a disease, then feces should be classified as a drug. The FDA did not approve fecal implants for therapeutic uses. Any doctor who wanted to use them would have to fill out an investigational new drug application. In response, many doctors stopped doing fecal implants, even though they were found to be 90 percent effective for C. diff.
Just a few months later the FDA changed their mind, due to strong push back from the American Gastroenterology Association. They allowed fecal implants for use in people with C. diff who were not responding to standard antibiotic treatment.
I find it interesting that the FDA wants a lot of regulation for feces, a substance that appears to be helping many people, yet they are lax about so many other things. Of course, precautions need to be taken such as screening for HIV, hepatitis, and parasites. However, at a time of diminishing returns with drugs for many gastrointestinal diseases and no chance of an actual cure, why not allow fecal implants, especially when they have the potential to help so many people who are suffering?
3. Antibiotics in Animal Feed
Meanwhile back at the ranch, the FDA is still dragging its feet to ban the use of antibiotics in factory farming. A recent FDA report reveals that 80 percent of antibiotics are given to industrial farm animals. Why give these animals low doses of antibiotics? So they will get fatter faster and to prevent health problems caused by the extreme confinement and filthy conditions they are forced to endure.
Although there is a clear-cut link between the use of antibiotics in farm animals and antibiotic resistance, the FDA continues to allow their use. Instead of banning the practice, the FDA has called for industry to voluntarily stop the practice. According to Marion Nestle, the problem has only gotten worse. The Centers for Disease Control states that 2 million people are sickened each year by drug-resistant bacteria, and 23,000 of them die. Since part of the problem is the use of antibiotics in animal feed, it seems like a no-brainer to stop this practice. The FDA has had over 30 years to take action on this, but has not as of yet.
Apparently, banning the hundreds of antibiotics used in factory farming would be “lengthy and cumbersome,” so a volunteer approach was the option chosen by the FDA.
One would think that 23,000 Americans dying each year would trump industry desires and long appeals.
4. Genetically-Modified Organisms (GMOs)
I have written before about the fact that the FDA does not do its own safety assessments or studies on GMOs before they are approved for use. Instead, the companies that create the crops do their own safety assessments, which the FDA only reviews. In other words, it is the opinion of companies such as Monsanto, Dupont Pioneer, Bayer CropScience, Dow Agrosciences, or Syngenta that are driving the approvals. This is a win-win for companies that stand to make a buck on GMOs but is a lose-lose situation for us, the very people the FDA is supposed to be “protecting.”
The FDA is worried about poop, a basically free substance that can cure C. diff and potentially other inflammatory bowel diseases, but is fine with adding food additives, antibiotics, and GMOs to our food supply without adequate testing or conflict-of-interest-free determinations.
What is wrong with this picture? A lot. And it is the American people who will be paying the price.

'Last Call at the Oasis': Why Time Is Running Out to Save Our Drinking Water!!!!!

A new film provides a much-needed wake-up call for Americans: Our false sense of water abundance may be our great undoing!!!

The first voice you hear in the new documentary Last Call at the Oasis is Erin Brockovich's -- the famed water justice advocate whom Julia Roberts portrayed on the big screen.
"Water is everything. The single most necessary element for any of us to sustain and live and thrive is water," says Brockovich as her voice plays over clips of water abundance -- gushing rivers and streams. "I grew up in the midwest and I have a father who actually worked for industry ... he promised me in my lifetime that we would see water become more valuable than oil because there will be so little of it. I think that time is here."
The film then cuts to images of water-scarce populations in the world: crowds of people at water tankers, stricken children, news reports of drought in the Middle East, Brazil, China, Spain.
The images are heart-wrenching and alarming ... and so are the ones that come next, which are all in the U.S. Water parks, golf courses, car washes, triple shower heads, outside misters -- all point to our folly when it comes to water.
We live with a false sense of water abundance and it may be our great undoing. Even though the film opens with Brockovich's prophecy that water is more valuable than oil, Last Call at the Oasis mostly focuses on how we've yet to grasp this news. The film, which is the latest from Participant Media ( Inconvenient Truth, Food Inc., Waiting for Superman), delves into our addiction to limitless growth, our blindness to pressures from global warming, and the free pass that industry and agriculture get to pollute.
The narrative of the film, which is directed by Jessica Yu, is driven by interviews, historical footage and some outstanding cinematography. We're taken to Las Vegas, so often the starting point for discussions of our impending water crisis. We see a receding Lake Mead, learn that Hoover Dam may be close to losing its ability to generate power as water levels drop, and that the intake valve for Las Vegas' water supply may soon be sucking air.
We hear from Pat Mulroy, Las Vegas' infamous water manager, about a plan for the city to pipe water over 250 miles from a small agricultural community. The town of Baker, population 150, looks to be on the sacrificial altar for Sin City. As Mulroy says, it is a "project out of sheer desperation." But that will be little consolation to the folks in Baker. Or to the rest of us. Because what we learn next is that "we're all Vegas."
Phoenix and LA also face water pressures, as the Colorado River strains to meet growing demands. The film shows hotspots like the California’s Central Valley, where 7 million acres of irrigated agriculture have turned near desert into the source of one-quarter of the nation's food -- at a steep environmental price.
California is often warned it will be the next Australia, where a decade of drought has devastated the agricultural sector. At the peak of Australia's drought, the film tell us, one farmer committed suicide every four days. We meet families who are struggling to save their farms, faced with having to slaughter all of their animals. The scenes of heartbreak in Australia are one of the few times in the film the narrative ventures outside the U.S. Mostly the storyline is focused on America's own evolving plight.
We see Midland, Texas where a community is stricken by cancer from hexavalent chromium in its drinking water. A reoccurring voice throughout the film is Brockovich, who works as a legal consultant all over the U.S. for communities that often find themselves powerless in the face of industry pollution. "There are 1,200 Superfund sites the EPA can't deal with," says Brockovich. "The government won't save you."

Methods for Treating Common Back Pain !

If your back pain does not require medical attention, i.e. if you feel you over exerted the muscles you can perform a few actions at home to, perhaps relieve your pain. The common treatments include bed rest, pain remedies, cold or hot pads, massage, relax, and so on.

Sometimes when we pull the muscles pain relievers can help reduce the pain. Common over-the-counter meds include ibuprofen, aspirin, or meds with acetaminophen included. You should avoid taking ibuprofen and aspirin combined to treat common back pain. In addition, if you have asthma, allergies, or polyps, leave ibuprofen and aspirin alone.

Cold packs work well, yet if you have conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis or related symptoms you should avoid using cold packs. Cold packs can reduce back pain otherwise if you allow the packs to remain on your back long enough to reduce muscle spasms, pain, or inflammation. Leave the cold pack on the area where your pain is for at least twenty minutes.

Later you can apply hot packs to the area. Avoid placing hot packs over areas where scar tissue is present. In addition, if you have poor circulation, avoid placing hot packs in this area as well. Leave the hot packs on your back for at least twenty minutes as well. Do not use heating pads, since experts believe that the pads are unsafe. You can take a hot, steamy bath or shower, or purchase hydrocollators and place it on the area. You can find hydrocollators at pharmacy, or areas where medical equipment, meds, etc, are sold.

If you muscles are tight, you may benefit from a massage. If someone you know is willing to give you a massage, ask him or her to rub the area gently. Otherwise, you may find local massage therapists in your area, which offer affordable treatment. If the massage increases your pain, ask the person to stop. You may need medical treatment. You should avoid massages if you have fallen and injured your back, or if you were recently in an accident. Seek medical help first.

You can also relax the back if your muscles are tense. Relaxation promotes wellness, since the muscles can rest from over-exertion.

To avoid complicating common back pains you should move around at least 20 minutes each day. Throughout the day we sit, lie on the back, stand, walk, etc, which all applies gravity pressure to the spine. We can learn proper sitting strategies to avoid complicating common back pain.

When sitting you can roll a towel up and situate it at the lower back and on your chair. This will provide the lumbar support. If you have, certain conditions however avoid using such support. Conditions such as spine stenosis or spondylolisthesis can become irritated if you use back supports in such a way.

At what time you sit, try to use a chair that has armrests so that you can use the rests to lower your self in position. Avoid placing the legs directly “in front of you,” and do not bend when you lift your self from the chair. Avoid twisting when rising from a seated position as well.

To minimize back pain you should avoid sitting for long hours. Walk around in intervals if you have a job that requires you to sit for long hours. At what time you sit, try to position your knees so that they are somewhat above the hips.

Common back stress can be reduced, yet if you try remedies at home or at work and the remedies fail, you may need to seek medical advice.  Also for Direct Access To Brand Name Products&Services Related Visit our Partners at  http://ebuys-onlineproducts-services.weebly.com

GreenEarthMeds News and Reviews: Top seven natural cures for cancer that got buried...: How do you keep the spread of cancer "growing"? Bury the cure. How do you keep 1.5 million Americans "infested" yearly ...

Top seven natural cures for cancer that got buried by the FDA, AMA, CDC!

naturalHow do you keep the spread of cancer "growing"? Bury the cure. How do you keep 1.5 million Americans "infested" yearly with mutated cells that multiply uncontrollably? You breed cancer in food and medicine. How many years ago did America start this evil strategy to make people sick and deny them the cure? Nearly 100 years. Where did it all really start? The American Medical Association (AMA) and a man named Morris Fishbein, who single-handedly removed nutrition from medical schools in the U.S. and installed a fake seal of approval for harmful lab-made drugs that made cancer worse. What else did Fishbein do?
Just in case you "doubters" and skeptics want some concrete proof, some evidence to take with you on your journey NOT to get cancer, here are some historical, proven facts to help you understand WHY you need to go 100% organic and research and use natural remedies, to build your immunity to disease with superfoods, herbs, tinctures and organic supplements.

Let's begin this journey of truth and the not-so-healthy history of medicine in this bold country we call the "Land of the Free." Let's begin with the TOP SEVEN CURES for cancer that mainstream media will never admit to, because their advertising money comes from Big Pharma, the GMO Agriculture giants (Monsanto/Dupont/Bayer/Dow Chemical/etc.) and the lobbyists and politicians who make their money off of stocks in cancer therapies that don't work:

1. The AMA once paid a cancer virus researcher $250K to retire in Mexico and stop working on natural cures:

2. Burzynski documentary reveals true agenda of FDA and cancer industry to destroy cancer cures that really work:

3. 'Dying to Have Known' documentary features Gerson Therapy natural cancer cure:

4. Harry Hoxsey: Guilty of Curing Cancer with Herbs:

5. Magic mushrooms could treat depression, but clinical trials unnecessarily delayed by drug laws:

6. Marijuana - A cure for cancer?

7. Beat cancer with 35% hydrogen peroxide!

Pay it forward 100 years

Nearly 100 years ago, the AMA began removing nutritional education from medical schools in America. Medical doctors would no longer understand anything about using food as medicine (or be allowed to suggest it), and all mid-wives, Native American herbalists and natural healers would be referred to in medical journals as "quacks." The Western Medicine philosophy would soon come to be that no food in the world could ever heal a human being or cure any disease or disorder; in fact, only pharmaceuticals and vaccines would ever be able to make that claim (legally) and get away with it, whether in peer reviews, medical and science journals (JAMA), scientific "studies" or labeled as such on products.
Currently, it is illegal for any food, herb, tincture or superfood product to say that it cures anything, yet medications advertised on TV since 1997 can say they treat all kinds of diseases and disorders, even though the side effects are horrendous, some of the time including internal bleeding and suicide.

Mother Nature, on the other hand, has a CURE for everything and also offers prevention and immunity for everything under the sun. Nutritionists and Naturopathic Physicians will tell you all day that organic fruits and vegetables are the key to healing and living a healthy life. A plant-based diet can heal nearly any health problem, and the body is like a machine that fires "on all cylinders" when given the correct fuel. Take this knowledge and be on your way to health freedom and natural living, where you have lots of energy, rarely ever get sick, can think critically all the time, can be spiritual and independent and take care of your family! Follow Natural News and track the truth. Learn and grow from it. Don't eat cancer. Don't drink cancer. Be organic.

Top 4 Herbal ADD/ADHD Remedies Your Doctor Forgot to Mention! Wonder Why?

According to the Women’s International Summit for Health (WISH)  (Summit starts October 28th), six million children have been diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). Furthermore, the Attention Deficit Disorder Association says that about 85% of adults are not aware that they have Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Symptoms include restlessness, inability to concentrate, difficulty organizing tasks and becoming easily distracted by outside stimuli. For most people with ADD/ADHD, work and social life is negatively impacted due to missed tasks, forgotten agendas and a seemingly uninterested, disruptive attitude.
To keep such symptoms at bay, doctors typically prescribe a litany of medications such as Ritalin, Adderall and Zoloft. However, like many medications, adverse side effects may include bladder and/or back pain, bloody urine and irregular heartbeat. While some people may find comfort in such medications, it’s important to know that there are herbal remedies that can help diminish ADD/ADHD symptoms, without the harmful side effects.

Top Four Herbal Remedies to Help Decrease ADD/ADHD Symptoms

It’s not unusual for children and adults to be given a variety of these medications, often too freely. In an effort to move away from this harmful, sometimes fatal trend, many people seek the benefits of herbal treatments to diminish the symptoms of ADD/ADHD.
1. Gotu Kola: This herb has been known to produce additional neurotransmitters and contributes to enhanced blood flow which can increase mental function and improve the ability to concentrate.
2. Gingko Biloba: Used by many for their belief that it improves brain function immensely (it may even be effective in helping diminish the effects of Alzheimer’s disease), Gingko biloba plays a critical role in delivering blood and blood sugars to the brain and certain nerve cells.
3. Ginseng: ADHD is often associated with deficits in dopamine-related neurological pathways. Studies show ginseng compounds can combat this deficiency, helping expedite neurodevelopment and also contributing to improved communication between neuronal cells. It’s often used for alertness and to improve concentration.
4. Valerian: According to the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC), valerian can be given to as a treatment for ADHD. Valerian has been said to promote relaxation and more restful sleep in individuals, without drowsiness that can impair one’s abilities.

Do You Still Believe Cholesterol Causes Cardiac Problems? Don’t!

A meta-analysis of properly performed previous studies on heart health and saturated fats concluded there was no association between cardiac issues and saturated fats. This was published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition (AJCN) on January 13th, 2010.
The AJCN meta-analysis covered studies involving 350,000 subjects who were followed for 5 to 23 years.
The saturated fat high cholesterol disinformation over the last few decades has resulted in many Americans eating and drinking more low and no fat foods and beverages. Yet, heart disease rates have continued to rise along with obesity.
Dr. William Davis asserts in his article “A Headline You Will Never See: 60 Year Old Man Dies of Cholesterol” that cholesterol doesn’t kill “any more than a bad paint job on your car could cause a fatal car accident.”
Dr. Davis explains the cause of most heart attacks, coronary problems and atherosclerosis is plaque from inflammation and calcium deposits, which can build up and rupture or clog the arteries. He and noted cardiologists Dr. Stephen Sinatra, Dr. Dwight Lundell, and other health practitioners have expressed the same viewpoint.
There can be some cholesterol in the plaque, but cholesterol itself is waxy and pliable. It’s even needed to help repair arterial damage. Cholesterol is important for brain matter, nerves and all other cellular structural components.
Calcium deposits (calcification) in artery interiors are much worse components of plaque. Calcium belongs in your bones and not in your arteries. Vitamin K2, magnesium, and vitamin D help transport calcium out of your blood and into your bones.
Dr. Davis recommends avoiding cholesterol panels for heart health concerns and opting for a measurement of coronary atherosclerosis plaque.
Many people with low cholesterol have died of coronary heart disease (CHD), while in their 40s, while many with high cholesterol never have CHD issues. Several studies of heart attack cadavers have also revealed the low instead of high cholesterol.
Statin drugs commonly prescribed for high cholesterol create earlier dementia risks and other unhealthy side effects while not reducing the risk for heart attack. But they rake in billions for Big Pharma.
Here’s How to Improve Heart Health without Pharmaceuticals
Cholesterol is vital for many functions. For example, it helps convert sunlight into vitamin D3, which helps prevent all sorts disease. Low cholesterol has been linked to higher stroke risks.
Oxidized cholesterol from hydrogenated and refined polyunsaturated cooking oils and margarine can lead to complications that result in CHD (coronary heart disease). This comes indirectly from the oxidation process those oils initiate.
Ironically, those toxic processed oils and butter substitutes were created to replace the wholesome saturated fats that were blamed for obesity and poor heart health. Instead, those healthy fats, unsaturated and saturated,  should be consumed for good overall health.
Heart disease, cancer, and other chronic health issues have risen considerably even while many eagerly bought and consumed those low and no fat products that are often toxic.
Use plain whole milk yogurts, unsweetened, and add healthy honey instead. Get away from processed foods of all types, eliminate hydrogenated and partially hydrogenated oils, and decrease sugar and HFCS (high fructose corn syrup) intake while completely avoiding synthetic sugar substitutes.
Incorporate good fats such as organic cold pressed olive oils, avocado oil, coconut oil, and real butter into your diet. Eat lots of avocados while you’re at it. Very healthy. If you eat meat, reduce your meat consumption and use meats from free range grass fed livestock that are free from antibiotic and hormone injections instead.
This is important and easy: Nobel Prize winner Linus Pauling outlined this inexpensive supplement protocol years ago. Use it to both prevent heart health problems and even reverse them.
He recommended 2 grams of the inexpensive amino acid lysine or L-lysine oral supplements daily along with his recommended ascorbic acid levels of 3 grams. If one is at higher risk or has already had serious heart health issues, he recommended doubling those amounts.

These supplement and dietary approaches, along with reducing stress and some moderate exercise will do much more good for your heart health than taking statin drugs or other pharmaceuticals

Marijuana for Medical Use! We say Yes!

Marijuana, or cannabis, as it is more appropriately called, has been part of humanity's medicine chest for almost as long as history has been recorded.
Of all the negative consequences of marijuana prohibition, none is as tragic as the denial of medicinal cannabis to the tens of thousands of patients who could benefit from its therapeutic use.
Modern research suggests that cannabis is a valuable aid in the treatment of a wide range of clinical applications. These include pain relief -- particularly of neuropathic pain (pain from nerve damage) -- nausea, spasticity, glaucoma, and movement disorders. Marijuana is also a powerful appetite stimulant, specifically for patients suffering from HIV, the AIDS wasting syndrome, or dementia. Emerging research suggests that marijuana's medicinal properties may protect the body against some types of malignant tumors and are neuroprotective.
Currently, more than 60 U.S. and international health organizations support granting patients immediate legal access to medicinal marijuana under a physician's supervision.

Humans have cultivated and consumed the flowering tops of the female cannabis plant, colloquially known as marijuana, since virtually the beginning of recorded history. Cannabis-based textiles dating to 7,000 B.C.E have been recovered in northern China, and the plant's use as a medicinal and mood altering agent date back nearly as far. In 2008, archeologists in Central Asia discovered over two-pounds of cannabis in the 2,700-year-old grave of an ancient shaman. After scientists conducted extensive testing on the material's potency, they affirmed, "[T]he most probable conclusion ... is that [ancient] culture[s] cultivated cannabis for pharmaceutical, psychoactive, and divinatory purposes."

Modern cultures continue to indulge in the consumption of cannabis for these same purposes, despite a present-day, virtual worldwide ban on the plant's cultivation and use. In the United States, federal prohibitions outlawing cannabis' recreational, industrial, and therapeutic use were first imposed by Congress under the Marihuana Tax Act of 1937 and then later reaffirmed by federal lawmakers' decision to classify marijuana -- as well as all of the plant's organic compounds (known as cannabinoids) -- as a Schedule I substance under the Controlled Substances Act of 1970. This classification, which asserts by statute that cannabis is equally as dangerous to the public as is heroin, defines cannabis and its dozens of distinct cannabinoids as possessing 'a high potential for abuse, ... no currently accepted medical use, ... [and] a lack of accepted safety for the use of the drug ... under medical supervision.' (By contrast, cocaine and methamphetamine -- which remain illicit for recreational use but may be consumed under a doctor's supervision -- are classified as Schedule II drugs; examples of Schedule III and IV substances include anabolic steroids and Valium respectively, while codeine-containing analgesics are defined by a law as Schedule V drugs, the federal government's most lenient classification.) In July 2011, the Obama Administration rebuffed an administrative inquiry seeking to reassess cannabis' Schedule I status, and federal lawmakers continue to cite the drug's dubious categorization as the primary rationale for the government's ongoing criminalization of the plant and those who use it.

Nevertheless, there exists little if any scientific basis to justify the federal government's present prohibitive stance and there is ample scientific and empirical evidence to rebut it. Despite the US government's nearly century-long prohibition of the plant, cannabis is nonetheless one of the most investigated therapeutically active substances in history. To date, there are over 20,000 published studies or reviews in the scientific literature pertaining to the cannabis plant and its cannabinoids, nearly one-third of which were published within the last three years. This total includes over 2,700 separate papers published in 2009, 1,950 papers published in 2010, and another 2,100 published to date in 2011 (according to a key word search on the search engine PubMed Central, the US government repository for peer-reviewed scientific research). While much of the renewed interest in cannabinoid therapeutics is a result of the discovery of the endocannabinoid regulatory system (which we describe in detail later in this booklet), some of this increased attention is also due to the growing body of testimonials from medical cannabis patients and their physicians.
The scientific conclusions of the overwhelmingly majority of modern research directly conflicts with the federal government's stance that cannabis is a highly dangerous substance worthy of absolute criminalization.
For example, in February 2010 investigators at the University of California Center for Medicinal Cannabis Research publicly announced the findings of a series of randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trials on the medical utility of inhaled cannabis. The studies, which utilized the so-called 'gold standard' FDA clinical trial design, concluded that marijuana ought to be a "first line treatment" for patients with neuropathy and other serious illnesses.
Among the studies conducted by the Center, four assessed smoked marijuana's ability to alleviate neuropathic pain, a notoriously difficult to treat type of nerve pain associated with cancer, diabetes, HIV/AIDS, spinal cord injury and many other debilitating conditions. Each of the trials found that cannabis consistently reduced patients' pain levels to a degree that was as good or better than currently available medications.

Another study conducted by the Center's investigators assessed the use of marijuana as a treatment for patients suffering from multiple sclerosis. That study determined that "smoked cannabis was superior to placebo in reducing spasticity and pain in patients with MS, and provided some benefit beyond currently prescribed treatments."

Around the globe, similarly controlled trials are also taking place. A 2010 review by researchers in Germany reports that since 2005 there have been 37 controlled studies assessing the safety and efficacy of marijuana and its naturally occurring compounds in a total of 2,563 subjects. By contrast, many FDA-approved drugs go through far fewer trials involving far fewer subjects.
As clinical research into the therapeutic value of cannabinoids has proliferated so too has investigators' understanding of cannabis' remarkable capability to combat disease. Whereas researchers in the 1970s, 80s, and 90s primarily assessed cannabis' ability to temporarily alleviate various disease symptoms -- such as the nausea associated with cancer chemotherapy -- scientists today are exploring the potential role of cannabinoids to modify disease.
Of particular interest, scientists are investigating cannabinoids' capacity to moderate autoimmune disorders such as multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, and inflammatory bowel disease, as well as their role in the treatment of neurological disorders such as Alzheimer's disease and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (a.k.a. Lou Gehrig's disease.) In fact, in 2009, the American Medical Association (AMA) resolved for the first time in the organization's history "that marijuana's status as a federal Schedule I controlled substance be reviewed with the goal of facilitating the conduct of clinical research and development of cannabinoid-based medicines."
Investigators are also studying the anti-cancer activities of cannabis, as a growing body of preclinical and clinical data concludes that cannabinoids can reduce the spread of specific cancer cells via apoptosis (programmed cell death) and by the inhibition of angiogenesis (the formation of new blood vessels). Arguably, these latter findings represent far broader and more significant applications for cannabinoid therapeutics than researchers could have imagined some thirty or even twenty years ago.
THE SAFETY PROFILE OF MEDICAL CANNABIS
Cannabinoids have a remarkable safety record, particularly when compared to other therapeutically active substances. Most significantly, the consumption of marijuana -- regardless of quantity or potency -- cannot induce a fatal overdose. According to a 1995 review prepared for the World Health Organization, "There are no recorded cases of overdose fatalities attributed to cannabis, and the estimated lethal dose for humans extrapolated from animal studies is so high that it cannot be achieved by ... users."
In 2008, investigators at McGill University Health Centre and McGill University in Montreal and the University of British Columbia in Vancouver reviewed 23 clinical investigations of medical cannabinoid drugs (typically oral THC or liquid cannabis extracts) and eight observational studies conducted between 1966 and 2007. Investigators "did not find a higher incidence rate of serious adverse events associated with medical cannabinoid use" compared to non-using controls over these four decades.
That said, cannabis should not necessarily be viewed as a 'harmless' substance. Its active constituents may produce a variety of physiological and euphoric effects. As a result, there may be some populations that are susceptible to increased risks from the use of cannabis, such as adolescents, pregnant or nursing mothers, and patients who have a family history of mental illness. Patients with hepatitis C, decreased lung function (such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), or who have a history of heart disease or stroke may also be at a greater risk of experiencing adverse side effects from marijuana. As with any medication, patients should consult thoroughly with their physician before deciding whether the medical use of cannabis is safe and appropriate.
HOW TO USE THIS REPORT
As states continue to approve legislation enabling the physician-supervised use of medical marijuana, more patients with varying disease types are exploring the use of therapeutic cannabis. Many of these patients and their physicians are now discussing this issue for the first time and are seeking guidance on whether the therapeutic use of cannabis may or may not be advisable. This report seeks to provide this guidance by summarizing the most recently published scientific research (2000-2012) on the therapeutic use of cannabis and cannabinoids for 20 clinical indications.
In some of these cases, modern science is now affirming longtime anecdotal reports of medical cannabis users (e.g., the use of cannabis to alleviate GI disorders). In other cases, this research is highlighting entirely new potential clinical utilities for cannabinoids (e.g., the use of cannabinoids to modify the progression of diabetes.)
The conditions profiled in this report were chosen because patients frequently inquire about the therapeutic use of cannabis to treat these disorders. In addition, many of the indications included in this report may be moderated by cannabis therapy. In several cases, preclinical data and clinical data indicate that cannabinoids may halt the advancement of these diseases in a more efficacious manner than available pharmaceuticals.
For patients and their physicians, this report can serve as a primer for those who are considering using or recommending medical cannabis. For others, this report can serve as an introduction to the broad range of emerging clinical applications for cannabis and its various compounds.
